Our Isles and Oceans SCIO is a development and opportunity initiative for young people affected by the pandemic and lockdown.
We work with multiple unique partners to achieve our goals and create life changing experiences for young people, aged 18-35, primarily through the vehicle of sport. Our Isles and Oceans SCIO aims to help build a better future for young people by creating opportunities for professional and personal development all geared to enabling them to get into or back into sustainable livelihoods
The programme’s beneficiaries – our Ambassadors – get the opportunity to spend a week amongst some of the UK’s most beautiful isles and oceans learning to sail and gaining their RYA Start Yachting Qualification.

Our Isles and Oceans SCIO works with a unique array of partners to provide life changing opportunities for young people.
Our Isles and Oceans SCIO works with partners and organisations to achieve our key objective – to help young people build sustainable livelihoods through personal and professional development. We exist to help young people achieve life goals and join the numerous programmes, activities and events that we are building into our organisation.
Delivering experiences and opportunities to our Ambassadors, OIAO provides funded programmes and creates youth development initiatives along our coastline and isles. These programmes are primarily delivered through the vehicle of sport, however, the organisation is continuously growing and building, extending its network of contacts and partners to provide more and more opportunities to young people.

SAILING AND THE POWER OF SPORT
Our Isles and Oceans SCIO brings people together through the vehicle of sport.
Our Isles and Oceans SCIO has developed a training programme where young people learn to sail and receive a RYA Start Yachting Qualification following five days of sailing and activities. During this programme, our Ambassadors will be trained by professionals and will experience sailing on the open ocean off Scotland’s west coast. This exciting experience provides a unique opportunity to push individuals out of their comfort zone and puts them in a team with other like-minded people.
